An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Safety and Compliance Manager to join the MRC Toxicology Unit at the University of Cambridge. The post is integral to ensuring the Unit can sustain successful research in the face of hazards. You will have a sound understanding of the relevant legislation & guidelines that affect the Unit enabling you to act as a specialist source of knowledge and guidance on general, biological and chemical safety matters.
You will need to have significant experience in scientific research together with experience of working in a health and safety role with some experience of delivering training. Experience of conducting safety audits would be an advantage. Strong organisation skills, the ability to work under pressure and to build positive relationships is essential. A Biological Safety Officer qualification, or willingness to undertake training, is required. A postgraduate qualification in a biology-related scientific discipline would be advantageous.
The Medical Research Council Toxicology Unit is a leading International Research Institute within the School of Biological Sciences, University of Cambridge. The Unit's overall aims are to carry out pioneering research which leads to improved health.
