This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Financial Crime Analytics team! We are looking for a consultant to join us as part of a collaborative team, using innovative methods to drive a data driven culture. This role is central to strengthening our data governance maturity. As a Data Governance Consultant, you'll be the person who ensures the data we use within Financial Crime conforms to the Society's data governance framework. You'll support the Data Steward for Financial Crime, championing the Society's data culture. You'll also be working alongside financial crime, fraud and analytical experts, collaborating to protect the Society and its members from the threat of economic crime .

You'll join a team of data governance professionals to drive improvement and value within the Financial Crime team in Nationwide. You will be passionate about how improved data quality can help us meet our strategic goals and be keen to take people along this journey with us. As well as strong interpersonal skills you will also possess the ability to tailor communication to different audiences and be a natural at building credibility with stakeholders. You'll have a real drive for delivering improvements and supporting change across the Financial Crime team. You'll also be expected to use your own initiative to keep pace with latest technology & trends.

What you'll be doing

You'll support in continually assessing our adherence to the Society's Data Governance Framework, making recommendations for improvements in our data controls and implementing these in a sustainable way and in line with the ways of working and tooling approach defined centrally.

We'll need you to use your experience with data controls, such as data lineage mapping, data quality outputs (such as dashboards and scorecards) to ensure the data we use in our financial crime systems and reports is well understood and optimised for its purpose.

You'll work alongside subject matter experts in financial data and systems to ensure they maximise the capability of our systems.
About you

You will be a data governance professional who can speak to data and business people alike to help them understand what data governance and data quality means for them and how it can add value for the Society and our Members.

As a minimum you'll need to have:
  • Proven hands-on experience implementing data controls in a large organisation - e.g. development and rollout of data dictionaries, lineage documentation, data quality scorecards, including reporting and resolving data quality issues
  • Extensive knowledge of data governance frameworks and industry best practice
  • Experience with SAS and/or SQL
  • Experience with Collibra
  • Experience of Microsoft Excel and Power BI or similar
  • Experience of working in a team of data professionals
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, ensuring a positive data culture is promoted and controls become a business as usual activity
