Royal Mail International Operations (RMI) is based at three sites HWDC (Heathrow Worldwide Distribution Centre), the International Logistics Centre and London Airport Mail Unit. HWDC is one of the UK largest, and most efficient automated Hubs in the UK. Worldwide import and exports items are processed through HWDC, which operations 24/7 to strict customs and aviation security specifications and connects over 195 countries worldwide.

The role

We have a vacancy for an Operational Compliance Manager at HWDC who is responsible for leading the RMI Aviation, Training and Compliance teams to plan and deliver training initiatives to meet operational compliance and legal requirements.

As the Operational Compliance Manager, you'll oversee the Aviation Security and compliance teams and will support the Head of International Operations with all compliance activities. This will include mentoring, coaching, and advising managers on policies & procedures relating to International safety and aviation compliance, employee engagement and communications across the wider team.

Other accountabilities
  • Responsible for compliance to Aviation Vetting, CAA and DfT national standards and Royal Mail International.
  • The facilitation of Criminal Record Check (CRC) applications for relevant staff at international and oversee the application process providing support & guidance.
  • Establish excellent working relationships with employees, internal and external stakeholders, working with Trade Unions in implementing change.
  • Maintain consistent application of IR framework, policies & strategies through involvement of CWU/CMA Union representatives.
  • Line Manager responsibility for a small team (attendance, performance management and support with interviews)

Attendance

Predominately 07:00 - 15:00, Monday to Friday with occasional night/late attendance. A degree of flexibility is required to meet operational demands.

About you

You need to demonstrate the following skills and experience on your application:
  • Experience of training and developing teams.
  • Knowledge of Aviation Vetting, CAA and DfT national standards and International AVSEC compliance (desirable)
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with experience of dealing with internal, external and third-party suppliers.
  • Good interpersonal, verbal and written skills with the ability to deliver effective and engaging presentations.
  • Experience of Microsoft Office programmes including Excel (formulas and other functions) and Word.
  • Expert in change management and continuous improvement tools and methodologies.
  • Ability to analyse complex data and implement change in performance.
