Our Service
We are looking to recruit a Parks and Grounds Compliance Officer to provide coaching for a team of operational staff to ensure effective, compliant, efficient and safe deliver of the Parks and Grounds Services in the Locality of Richmond, Scarborough, Northallerton, Selby, Skipton and Harrogate.
The Role
As our Parks and Grounds Compliance Officer you ensure staff are adequately trained to undertake their role. The role will undertake risk assessments, coshh assessments, safe systems of work, audits and accident investigations, occupational health and HAVS compliance to ensure continuous improvement.
You will be: •
Leading on the creation and implementation of safety and environmental procedures including, but not limited to, risk assessments, accident investigations, internal audits and induction training. •
Acting as the Service lead across the relevant area to all staff on matters relating to health, safety and compliance. Undertaking regular reviews of operational compliance procedures and the development of new procedures for maximum efficiency and effectiveness. •
Supporting inductions to operational employees.
Undertaking the delivery of internal training within the service as appropriate (reversing assistant, new starter, manual handling, risk assessments etc).
Working alongside Service Management to oversee onsite health and safety.
You will be required to play a key role in the maintenance of a safe working culture within the Service.
To have oversight on spend relating to PPE and to work with colleagues/management to reduce waste.
Work closely with Corporate functions - Health and Safety, Training and Learning and HR. Sustain an effective working relationship with trade union colleagues.
Have oversight for Health and Safety and operational compliance across a geographical area. Work towards harmonising our Health and Safety practises across the County
You will provide information, written and oral, in an extensive range of formats to an extensive range of audiences.
Provide practical solutions and training to staff that is clear and concise.
Represent the Service at appropriate meetings.
What you will bring...
To be successful you will have significant knowledge of services policies and processes. Have an in depth knowledge of health and safety best practice and legislative frameworks. A good general education showing experience of literacy and numeracy skill. You should be able to demonstrate recent experience of working in an operational environment. The ability to work productively whilst under pressure, have the ability to problem solve. You should be able to prepare and present reports and correspondence, have excellent written and oral skills and able to use a variety of IT systems including but not limited to Microsoft Office, word, excel, power point.
As the role covers the district you will require a full driving licence.
