Job Title: Governance Manager(hybrid/flexible working)

Location: London

Salary: £45,000

Hours: 35 hours per week

Overview of the Role: We are looking for a Governance Manager to deliver high quality governance support for the RHS and its trading companies. You will work closely with the Company Secretary in the small friendly Secretariat team to ensure the smooth running of the recently updated RHS governance structure and delivering its schedule of meetings and events including the Annual General Meeting. You will advise and support RHS trustees, Board and Committee members, the RHS executive and other key stakeholders on good governance practice. Both inward and outward facing, you will monitor RHS compliance of statutory and regulatory requirements and standards.

Reporting to the Company Secretary but sitting within the Director General's office, you will be required to work effectively across a variety of projects and manage multiple priorities.

The most important experience, skills and attributes required for the Governance Manager are:

  • Significant experience in governance and compliance, ideally in a not-for-profit setting;
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate with and positively influence senior leadership, trustees, board and committee members, and external stakeholders;
  • Proactive, productive and organised, confident to work under own initiative and to forward plan whilst working on a number of projects;
  • High level of dependability with a commitment to detail and analysis, in particular when preparing for and managing governance meetings;
  • Maintain and improve systems and processes for monitoring and reporting;
  • Stay updated on governance trends and best practices to recommend improvements to the governance function;
